2017年8月下旬から数カ月の間に、約60万人のイスラム少数民族ロヒンギャがミャンマーから隣国バングラデシュに流出した。長期的には、難民キャンプにおいて近代医療ケアを享受することは、難民の身体的健康の改善に寄与するであろう。一方、伝統的社会に生きてきた彼らが避難先において短期間で近代医療サービスへ接触する際、どのように適応、あるいは不適応のプロセスを経験することになるのだろうか。本研究の目的は、医療人類学及び疫学的アプローチを合わせた混合研究法により、彼らの「健康」を身体的だけではなく、精神的、社会的観点からも包括的に理解することである。
コロナ禍により現地（バングラデシュ南部ロヒンギャ難民地域）に出張できるめどが立たない現状である。このような状況において、少しでも工夫して調査が実施できないか試行錯誤中である。具体的には、バングラデシュ人アシスタントを通じて遠隔で調査を行う可能性に関して、難民キャンプで活動する国際NGO等とオンラインで協議を行っている。ただ、この方法による遠隔での調査が可能だとしても、まず現地アシスタントとなりうる人材のリクルートをし、その人に対して事前に適切なトレーニングや打ち合わせを行う必要があり、全てオンラインで対応するために準備のための期間も必要である。さらに、2021年3月に22日起きた難民キャンプ内での大規模火災（5人死亡、2万人が避難）で、現地では政府もＮＧＯもその対応なども含め混乱しており、この件に関しても今のところペンディングとなっている。そのため、現時点では研究に関する進捗はみられない。
コロナ禍により、現地への出張計画が立てられず調査のめどが立たない。また、2021年3月に難民キャンプ内で大規模火災が発生し現地で混乱が生じている。

フィリピン都市貧困地域におけるソーシャルマーケティングを用いた子宮頸がん予防対策

2020年度は、学術雑誌に投稿中であった子宮頸がん検診の受診状況の実態と受診行動の関連要因の調査結果に関する論文に対応し、最終的に受理された。
また、質問紙調査で得られた地方部と都市部の588人のデータを用いて、HPV・子宮頸がん・検診に関する知識と病気への罹患性・重大性に対する認識に関連する要因について追加解析を行った。知識の高さは、病気への重大性の認識の高さおよび医療施設への距離の近さが関連していた。また、病気への罹患性の認識が高いほど、病気に関する知識と病気の重大性の認識も高かった。同様に、病気の重大性の認識が高いほど、知識があり、病気の罹患性の認識も高く、加えて、既婚であることと収入の高さが統計学的に有意に関連していることが明らかとなった。
2020年度は質調査の補足データを収集するため、調査地であるフィリピンへの渡航を予定していたが、現地の新型コロナウィルス感染状況が不安定であること、また、現地協力者は同感染症の関連業務により多忙となっており、遅れが生じている。
2021年度は、可能な範囲で質的調査の補足データを収集するとともに、知識関連要因に関する解析結果を論文にまとめたいと考えている。 -
