With the global rise in international migration, coexistence with people of different religious and cultural backgrounds--particularly the reconciliation of differing views on the status and rights of women--has become a shared challenge across the world. This study focuses on the religious diversity of Malaysia and Singapore as case studies for exploring the development of horizontal relationships between Muslims&--estimated at 1.6 billion worldwide&--and non-Muslims. It analyzes magazines published for Muslim audiences during the post--Asia-Pacific War period, a time of restructuring in gender norms. The analysis reveals that in discussions concerning women's status and rights, Muslims placed importance on the autonomy of their own communities while also referencing the positions and developments among non-Muslims, ultimately seeking to close the gap in rights between the two groups.
